In many ways, ‘Saamy’ was a well-written commercial film. After 15 years, director
Hari and Vikram are collaborating once again for a sequel titled ‘Saamy Square’.
While the shooting is progressing at breakneck speed, the makers have released the
title logo for the upcoming film. ‘Saamy’ tells the story of an honest police
officer named Saamy (Vikram) and the challenges he faces in a corrupt society. The
film turned out to be an out-and-out money spinner at the box office and was remade
in several languages. The sequel, ‘Saamy Square’, will mark the return of ‘Chiyaan’
Vikram as the foul-mouthed cop Aarusaamy.
Actress Trisha Krishnan was supposed to reprise her role in the sequel. However,
she opted out of the project due to reasons unknown. Keerthy Suresh has thus
replaced Trisha in the film, which also stars Prabhu, Bobby Simha, Uma Riyaz and
Soori in important roles.
